Isle of Tiree Wedding

Steph & Matt | An Talla | Isle of Tiree

Sign me up for an island wedding any day of the week, there is just something different about them and this wedding was no different. Steph and Matt had travelled up with their families from around London and other parts of the U.K. and even though there was a bit of a distance for everyone, they all seemed to love it. They had decided on Tiree after a couple of family holidays and thought LET’S DO IT! I will be honest, I’m glad they did because I was one of the many that loved it.

Although be aware that an island wedding is not to be taken to lightly. I at first struggled to get a return slot with the camper on the trusty CalMac ferry but then managed to get a spot for the car only to discover that all of the accommodation was now unavailable… What a nightmare! But I am committed and wasn’t going to let this deter me so I booked myself into the local campsite in advance of course and packed the tent. Yes, I camped in a tent for three nights for wedding, tell me that isn’t commitment to my couple and their special day. I got lucky with the weather and the site was ideal for what I needed, even had wifi which was a bonus.

The ceremony was held by Minister Alex who travelled from Oban as there is no minister locally, he was great. Friendly and extremly accomodating and gave me free reign which was wonderful. and he fit right in with everyone. Ceremony complete we ventured outside for confetti and the dreaded midge appeared, it had to be one of the worst clusters id ever seen. Confetti quickly done everyone hid inside the church to wait for the buses to arrive for getting to the reception on the island village hall An Talla. Drinks and canapes served as the breeze came back to deter the midge we ventured for a group photo before speeches.

Dancing commenced with not a single person aware of how to perform a ceilidh correctly, it certainly made for plenty of laughs and everyone got involved. The evening well underway the buffet was soon served with a few slices of cake along with a beautiful cheese board. A wonderful few days on Tiree.

Have a look at the photos and video highlight below and if anything catches your eye and you are interested in having me along to photograph your wedding then please get in touch here :)
